LDC-backed LeMieux and James and James, along with former portfolio business Aker Systems, all feature in the inaugural Sunday Times 100, published today. The list reveals the 100 fastest-growing private companies in the UK.

The Sunday Times 100 recognises a range of independent companies from across the country that have displayed sustained growth, exceptional job creation and show every sign of continuing to scale. UK businesses with more than £5m in sales during their latest trading year were eligible to apply.

Equestrian brand LeMieux ranked 66th on the list. The Hampshire-based business reported an annual sales growth over three years of 56.05% and sales of £38m in the year to April 2022. LDC partnered with the founders Lisa and Robert Lemieux in 2021 and we are working closely with them to support their international growth plans.

James and James placed 75th in the list. The Northampton-based e-commerce fulfilment specialist has grown sales to £38.6 million and reported annual sales growth over three years of 53.37%. Our investment is supporting the management team to invest in a new larger UK fulfilment centre, further enhance its technology proposition, and expand the business’ client service and commercial functions.

Former LDC portfolio company Aker Systems was also included, in 51st place. The cloud technology company recorded annual sales growth over three years of 64.80% and saw its sales hit £25.5m during the year to May. LDC invested in Aker Systems in 2020, supporting investment in research and development to drive organic growth, as well as the extension of Aker’s team of highly experienced experts. We exited our investment in 2021 after helping the business to by more than 50%.

We are thrilled to see three businesses that we have supported feature in the Sunday Times 100. We are actively looking to support more management teams to grow their businesses through our pledge to invest in at least 100 new mid-market businesses over the next five years.

LDC would like to congratulate all of the businesses that feature in the Sunday Times 100! You can see all the companies that feature in the list and find out more here.
