As the leading private equity partner in the North East of England and Scotland, LDC is committed to backing ambitious management teams to grow their businesses.

LDC is an active supporter of business communities across the North East and Scotland. In the last two years alone, the team has backed an additional five management teams, investing more than £110m of equity.

We established our on-the-ground presence in Scotland in 2008 and opened an office Newcastle in 2020, when we became the first mid-market private equity business to have a permanent base in The North East. The launch followed more than 15 years of investing in the North East including partnering with the likes of Aesica and supporting Quantum Pharma for five years through to an IPO.

We understand the importance of having a local presence in the North East and Scotland, which is why LDC’s team all live and work in the region.

Recent investments include leading employee engagement and internal communications consultancy scarlettabbott, fast-growing IT service provider Aspire and the UK’s leading supplier of shipping containers, Cleveland Containers.

Our current portfolio across the region spans technology, support services and healthcare. It includes national lettings and estate agency group Lomond, healthcare business Connect Health, optometrist group Duncan & Todd and fast-growing IT services provider Aspire.

“For us it was the personal relationship with our investment director and the broader team. We wanted to work closely with them and we did just that.”

What really attracted us to LDC was the breadth of sectors they invest into and the relationship we had built with Gareth Marshall. We thank LDC for their guidance, which has supported the business through a very exciting period of growth and development.”
