At LDC, we’re committed to embedding ESG performance at all levels of our business. It’s an essential part of how we operate and that includes championing excellence in ESG across our portfolio.
From data that delivers results to new partnerships that will drive progress, here’s a snapshot of the ESG developments from across our portfolio in the last month.
BCIS: Sustainable partnerships and launching new tools.
Building Cost Information Service (BCIS), the leading UK provider of building cost information, has partnered with former LDC portfolio company NBS, the leading specification and product information platform for the construction industry, to help support the industry in its drive to net-zero buildings. The partnership will provide specifiers with powerful insights to help them to make design decisions that reflect budget and sustainability aspirations.
BCIS is also launching a Built Environment Carbon Database to help the construction industry to address the climate emergency. The database will be free to access and has been designed to become the main source of carbon estimating and benchmarking for the industry.
Precision Micro: Celebrating its commitment to ESG
Precision Micro, a leading provider of high-precision components using photochemical etching, was named one of this year’s winners at the BVCA Vision Awards in the Midlands. The awards recognised Precision Micro for its strategic commitment to ESG, which included its active involvement in supporting Net Zero technology and achieving a 98% recycling rate through its waste management strategy. The team was also commended for its work with local schools and its current workforce gender ratio, which at 56:44 male to female surpasses the national average in STEM of 76:24.
Sedex: Welcoming new partners
Sedex, a market-leading sustainability data and technology provider, welcomed Peel Ports Group into its network. Peel Ports is the first port operator to join Sedex and the move will enable the business to work together with suppliers to better manage its social and environmental performance, whilst protecting people working in its supply chain.
Star Live: Supporting RAAC-affected schools
Specialist production agency Star Live has a team providing temporary classrooms, sports facilities, hospital facilities and theatres for those impacted by the RAAC crisis. Earlier this month, it helped to reopen one of the schools affected by building four complete and ready-to-use temporary classrooms in just over a week, meaning the school could re-open for students.
Duncan and Todd: Reinvigorated ESG commitments
Duncan and Todd, the largest privately-owned optician and hearing care chain in Scotland, reinvigorated its ESG commitments. The business plans to reduce its environmental footprint, actively engage with local communities to promote positive change and uphold the highest ethical standards in all operations.
Beyond the portfolio
Alongside our support of ESG initiatives across our portfolio, we are continuing to support charitable causes across the UK.
As part of our long-standing partnership with The Prince’s Trust, we are supporting young artists by commissioning their work to display across our national network of offices. This month, the artwork of Iona Rowland was unveiled in our Nottingham office.
