Ben Middleton joined the management consultancy Alchemmy in 2020 with an ambition to shake things up. “Traditional consultancy can slow down what it should speed up. We’re the complete opposite,” says Middleton.

Alchemmy is a challenger brand and Middleton is using its best assets – people and technology – to guarantee change and help clients grow. “Our people are passionate about what they do, and we know that if we do a great job for clients, they’ll want us back.” It’s Middleton’s goal to ensure every single person at Alchemmy has a part to play in the growth of the business.

Q&A

What’s your mission at Alchemmy?

Alchemmy was founded by Dipak Patel and Nik Kyriacou a decade ago as an antidote to the management consulting industry. My remit is to take the business on a 10x growth journey. To take this special company that they started and build it into the biggest and best version of itself without compromising its culture or values.

How did the business survive the pandemic?

Covid hit us really hard. Where we used to compete with eight or nine other consultancies for work, suddenly we were competing with 50. Everyone was scrapping over the projects that were available. We had to get really good at winning bids and finesse our messaging around our uniqueness. We’ve also pivoted into different sectors, launched new services lines such as intelligent automation, and opened offices in Nottingham and Bristol.

How does Alchemmy stand out?

Traditional consultancy can slow down what it should speed up. We think consultancy should be exciting, immersive and use technology to get to the point quickly. We’re fun to work with and we guarantee results. Our people are passionate about what they do and we know that if we do a great job for our clients, as quickly as possible, they’ll want us back. It’s my goal to ensure every single person at Alchemmy has a part to play in the growth of the business.
