LDC scoops trio of awards at Yorkshire Rainmakers

LDC Investment Manager Anthony West has been named Rising Star of the Year at The Business Desk’s Yorkshire Rainmakers Awards 2024, with the team also taking home Medium Deal of the Year for its investment in Boston Energy and Large Deal of the Year for its investment in UniHomes.
Anthony, a trusted advisor to the management teams in Yorkshire’s business community, has played a leading role in four significant transactions since joining LDC in 2021, including its partnership with Beverley-based Boston Energy, a technical services provider to the wind energy industry.
Anthony reflects LDC’s commitment to supporting ambitious management teams across Yorkshire and with his support, the team has built on investment activity in the region and helped its portfolio businesses to achieve their growth plans.
The Yorkshire team spearheaded LDC’s investment in the industry-leading student accommodation advertising platform UniHomes, which scooped the coveted accolade of Large Deal of the Year (£50m+) at last night’s awards ceremony.
Based in Sheffield, UniHomes is a Yorkshire success story, operating in 41 locations nationwide and helping students to find their perfect university ‘home from home’. Its partnership with LDC is helping the management team to accelerate its regional growth ambitions and streamline the platform for both its student and letting agent customers.
LDC was also awarded Medium Deal of the Year (£10m-£50m) for its investment in Boston Energy, a technical services provider to the wind energy industry. Boston Energy employs and trains specialist technicians to support the build and maintenance programmes of onshore and offshore wind farms across four continents, supporting the transition to a cleaner energy economy.
LDC’s support is helping the homegrown company to respond to growing demand for its services at pace, while raising the profile of Yorkshire as a global renewable energy hotspot.
