Secure desktop ID card printer and software business Magicard operates sales offices in the UK, US, Dubai and China.
In 2016 we backed the £22m carve out of Magicard from listed defence and security group Ultra Electronics Holdings plc. Our investment supported the business’ organic and international growth strategy.
Unlocking growth at home and overseas
During our partnership with Magicard, the business invested heavily in new product development, releasing six innovative new products within the final two years of our investment. The business also further developed its printing software capabilities with patent protected IP.
With our support, the business, which was founded in 1992, expanded internationally, shipping tens of thousands of printers from its UK headquarters and manufacturing centre in Weymouth to more than 100 countries each year. Over 100,000 Magicard printers have now been installed worldwide.
We exited our investment in Magicard to listed international manufacturer Brady Corporation in 2021.
