LDC’s Midlands team scooped four awards at the Midlands Dealmakers Awards, including being named the region’s Funder of the Year.
The awards follow a standout year for LDC’s Midlands team after it completed a number of deals in the last 12 months, with the judges praising the team for “another busy year”.
Most recently, the team has backed the management buyout of global corporate and financial communications specialist Instinctif Partners, in addition to the management buyout of the corporate apparel business of Tailored Brands – a deal that valued the group at £50million. The firm also took a minority stake in Chesterfield-based B2B car finance broker Evolution Funding in February 2019, the deal valued the business at over £100million.
In addition to Funder of the Year, the team also picked up Deal of the Year for its investment in logistics support specialist SMH Fleet Solutions and SME Deal of the Year for backing the growth of IT services provider Littlefish.
LDC backed SMH Fleet Solutions in September 2018, enabling the Worcestershire-headquartered company to further expand its footprint with new sites across the UK.
In April this year, it invested in Nottingham-based IT services provider Littlefish in April 2019 to help the management team accelerate the company’s organic growth strategy.
LDC Chief Executive Officer Martin Draper was awarded an Outstanding Contribution Award. Having led many of LDC’s most successful deals and partnerships in the region, Martin has been named Insider’s Dealmaker of the Year in the Midlands on five separate occasions. He became Chief Executive of LDC in 2014 and was commended by the judges for “playing a significant role in developing the region as a hub for deal making activity”.
