The Team
LDC Region

Founded in West Yorkshire in 1983 as a recruitment office that provided hired drivers to the rail and logistics industries, Specialist People Services (SPS) has grown into an international group that provides temporary labour and equipment hire services to businesses across a diverse range of sectors.

Back in 2011, we backed the management team of what was then Driver Hire Investments Group to support its plans for acquisitive growth.

In 2013, the company acquired Infra Safety Services Labour (ISS Labour), a provider of professional and labour services, minor works projects, track lighting and safety barrier solutions to the rail industry.

The business also launched Driver Hire Australia in response to demand for hired labour solutions in several sectors and regions across the country.

I can’t speak highly enough of LDC. They were founded as a regional private equity business. It’s not just the money, it’s the support they give you.”
Chris Chidley, CEO
SPS

Fast-paced and sustainable growth

In 2017 SPS was recognised as one of Europe’s fastest growing businesses by the Financial Times, due to a 290 per cent revenue growth between 2012 and 2015.

In 2018 SPS announced it has accelerated its global growth plans after generating £150m turnover for the first time.

The group has recorded a 10 per cent increase of revenues year-on-year across all of its businesses. Its international arm, Driver Hire Australia, has also continued to go from strength-to-strength, reporting record sales of £12m, up £5m from the previous year.

The growth in revenue was largely due to strong demand for temporary works in the logistics and rail sectors as well as new contract wins with national, blue chip clients. The business is now looking ahead at further growth in the US market.

International recognition

In 2019 SPS was recognised again in The Sunday Times International Track 200 for international sales growth of 55 per cent, placing 113th in the list.
