Founded in West Yorkshire in 1983, Specialist People Services (SPS) has grown into a well-established and unique recruitment business providing critical labour solutions to the logistics market in the UK and internationally. The group encompasses the operating brands Driver Hire Nationwide, Driver Hire Australia, Driver Risk Management and ISS Labour.
Back in 2011, we backed the management team to support an acquisitive and international growth strategy.
In 2013, the company acquired Infra Safety Services Labour (ISS Labour), a provider of professional and labour services, minor works projects, track lighting and safety barrier solutions to the rail industry.
During our investment, the business launched Driver Hire Australia in response to demand for hired labour solutions in several sectors and regions across the country. Driver Hire Australia now has eight offices across Australia. It was recognised for its international sales growth in 2019, placing in The Sunday Times International Track 200.
Long-term success
We exited our investment in SPS in 2022 after more than a decade of supporting the management team’s growth plans. During this period the business increased annual turnover to £170m.
