Established in 2004, Node4 delivers a comprehensive range of hosted IT and communications solutions to businesses up and down the UK.
In 2013 LDC backed the management buyout of the business supporting Co-founder and Chief Executive Andrew Gilbert. The deal provided the capital to help accelerate the continuing growth of Node4 through new data centre development and acquisitions.
A commitment to buy and build
Node4 activated a strategic buy and build strategy that saw it complete the acquisitions of LETN Solutions, Reconnix and Premier IT Networks in 2014 and 2015, as it capitalised on the growing trend for customers to outsource IT services and favour integrated providers like Node4.
The business also opened a new London office at the heart of the City, demonstrating its commitment to the South East region as part of the company’s fast growth strategy.

Staying on the journey
In October 2016 LDC exited its investment in Node4 in a sale to Bowmark Capital.
Andrew Gilbert continued to lead impressive growth following the LDC-backed management buyout in 2013, increasing revenues from £13m to £28m (March 2016) and more than tripling staff numbers to more than 180 people over the same period.
In 2017 LDC re-invested in Node4 to further support the business’ fast growth strategy.
Continued Buy & Build
In February 2021 Node4 acquired K3’s managed services unit Starcom in a deal worth £14.7m. The acquisition supports Node4’s mission to support businesses with cloud-led managed services.
In March 2021 following an eight year partnership, LDC fully exited its minority investment in Node4 to Providence Equity Partners.
