As part of the transaction, telecoms expert John Trower joined Commsworld as Chairman. John has significant experience of working for and advising private equity backed telecoms businesses and has held board roles at Metronet UK and Glasgow-based My1Login.
Commsworld is an active supporter of Scottish communities. During lockdown, it extended its CSR programme and provided a suite of internet enabled laptops to a local Edinburgh school to help children from disadvantaged backgrounds work from home.
In 2020 Commsworld was unveiled as one of the best-performing privately-owned technology companies in the UK, ranked 27th out of 50 peers, at the Megabuyte50 Awards and also ranked in The Sunday Times Profit Track 100 (COVID-19 edition) with the business bring praised for using its website to share advice on remote-working technology, highlighting deals from the likes of Microsoft and Mitel, during the pandemic.
In June 2020 Commsworld announced it had completed the final step in its shift from telecoms disruptor to network provider having invested more than £10m in its “next generation” network. Read article in The Scotsman here.
In January 2021, Steve Langmead was appointed Commsworld’s Chief Executive. He replaced Founder Ricky Nicol, who has become Vice-Chairman and will remain on the Board of the company he started up in 1994.

In February 2021 Commsworld announced that it had achieved one its best quarters of growth in Q4 2020 after it secured new multi-million-pound contracts across a range of sectors.
