While there isn’t a business in the region that hasn’t been impacted by the pandemic, a new environment brings new challenges and opportunities. The Midlands is a vital cog in the UK’s economy which is home to some of the nation’s most exciting companies and inspiring business leaders.
Having backed management teams in the Midlands for over 30 years, we’ve been through the ups and downs of the economic cycles and seen first-hand how ambition can prevail during times of uncertainty.
At LDC, backing ambition is in our DNA. We take a long term and flexible approach to our partnerships and we’re committed to supporting businesses through all points of the cycle. Creating flexibility, focus and protecting employees and customers have never been more important, and by working closely with management teams, we are here to help businesses not just survive but thrive.
Our 10-year partnership with Sutton Coldfield-based The Pallet Network, and our nine year and still going partnership with Birmingham-headquartered Kee Safety are testament to our long-term and flexible approach.
We also completed the sale of Away Resorts following a successful four-year partnership, reinvesting to hold a minority shareholding to continue to support the management team.
We are currently backing more than 30 management teams and are actively supporting many of them to grow through acquisition. At the turn of the year, we helped Stuart Turner broaden its range of pump and water boosting solutions by acquiring Fluid Water Solutions. Nationally, over the past two years LDC has supported its portfolio businesses complete more than 40 acquisitions with a combined value of more than £220million.
We’ve also welcomed new team members including: Investment Director Phil Hinson, Origination Director Gary Ward and Investment Managers Josh Wachman and Josh Brown to the team forming an 11-strong dedicated Midlands investment team. Our Birmingham team also moved into new offices in the heart of the city’s business district.
With £1.2billion to invest nationally over the next three years, we stand ready to support those charting a course through the current crisis.
