LDC employees stepping up to The Prince’s Trust challenge to help transform young lives

Employees from all of LDC’s 12 locations right across the UK are putting their best foot forward in February to raise vital funds to support the work its national charity partner The Prince’s Trust.
Taking place throughout the month, the ‘Future Steps’ initiative is a 10,000-steps-a-day challenge, encouraging participants to get fit while helping to transform young lives.
The Prince’s Trust works with 11 to 30-year-olds to help them develop the confidence and skills to live, to learn and to earn, giving them an increasing stake in our economy and society. The charity’s 2021 Youth Index report, which took an in-depth look into the views and outlooks of young people during this time of unprecedented change, revealed that a quarter (24%) claim that the pandemic has “destroyed” their career aspirations, and 60% say getting a new job feels “impossible now” because there is so much competition.
Leading mid-market private equity firm LDC partnered with The Prince’s Trust in 2019 to launch Backing Youth Ambition, a three-year initiative to help equip more than 1,200 young people with the confidence, skills and funding to launch their own businesses through The Prince’s Trust’s Enterprise programme.
In its first full year, the partnership contributed £431,000 to support more than 650 young entrepreneurs through donations, volunteering and mentoring as well as event attendance.
LDC has also helped the charity as it has shifted courses for young people online, with employees offering their time to deliver online workshops designed to help young people enhance their skills and boost their chances of securing employment opportunities.
