John Garner, national Head of New Business at LDC, has been named ‘UK Mid-Cap Private Equity Leader’ at the Real Deals Private Equity Awards 2021 which took place in London on Friday 10th September.
The Private Equity Awards – which have been running for two decades – recognise Europe’s very best private equity transactions and most successful firms and leaders from across the continent. The judges commended this year’s winners for their “dedication, hard work and excellence”.
John took home the inaugural ‘UK Mid-Cap Private Equity Leader’ award, after it was introduced this year to recognise private equity leaders for an outstanding contribution to their firm and their portfolio companies.
As the driving force behind LDC’s nationwide commitment to back ambitious management teams of growing mid-market businesses, John led the team across LDC’s 12 regional locations to invest more than £240m in 14 transactions in 2020. The firm also supported its portfolio firms to make 35 acquisitions in the year.
John was one of the LDC’s most prolific dealmakers in 2020, playing a key role in five of LDCs successful investments; NBS, Team17, Keoghs, Adler & Allan and Linley & Simpson.
Since joining LDC in 2006, he has played an integral role in supporting fast-growing businesses across multiple regions, personally leading investments of over £500m in 30 mid-market businesses. This includes LDC’s successful partnership with independent games developer, Team17. John led LDC’s investment in the business in September 2016 and subsequent IPO.
This latest award further cements John’s position as a leading figure in private equity and the wider M&A community.
