The answer sheets are in, the winners have been crowned, and most importantly, the LDC Charity Quiz has now raised more than £2m since its inception in 2005.
This year marked the 17th annual quiz and saw more than 200 teams battle it out at nine events across the country, all raising much needed funds for our chosen charities. An incredible £188,000 was raised this year – making it our most successful fundraising event to date – thanks to generous team donations and ‘on-the-night’ events such as raffles and auctions.
The LDC Charity Quiz has become a staple event in our calendar and for all that’s changed throughout the years, one thing has remained constant. That’s the support this initiative provides to organisations and good causes that are important to our people and local communities.
Since 2005, we’re proud to have grown the quiz into an annual event that supports the work of many great causes, forging some long-standing relationships with fantastic organisations and teams right across the UK.
This year, money raised in the Birmingham supported the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, one of the UK’s leading paediatric centres. Meanwhile, funds from the Nottingham event benefitted When You Wish Upon A Star, an organisation fulfilling the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses, and in Reading we have been able to make a generous donation to Camp Mohawk, which provides a place for children and young people with special needs to learn and achieve their potential.
In London, we were proud to support London’s Air Ambulance, while our other regional events have helped important organisations such as cancer support specialists Maggie’s in Glasgow; women’s employment charity Smart Works in Leeds; poverty-relief charity Wood Street Mission in Manchester; The Grand Appeal, which works in partnership with Bristol Children’s Hospital to save the lives of sick children; and Tiny Lives, which supports premature and sick babies and their families across the North East.
We’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who took part, and congratulate PwC (Glasgow), EY (Birmingham), DC Advisory (Manchester), Sentio Partners (Leeds), RSM UK (Nottingham), PFK-Francis (Bristol), HMT LLP (Reading), PwC (London) and FRP Corporate Finance / Williams Ali (Newcastle) who were crowned this year’s regional winners.
We’re already looking forward to welcoming everyone back next year to raise even more funds for the incredible work that our partner organisations do.
