LDC was named Private Equity Team of the Year and Chris Handy won Rainmaker of the Year at the West Midlands Rainmaker Awards last night.
The awards, hosted by The Business Desk, took place at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham and brought together the West Midlands deals community to celebrate the successes from the past 12 months.
LDC’s West Midlands team, led by Partner and Head of West Midlands, Chris Handy, completed eleven transactions during the qualifying period, including its investment in Dudley-based elevator, service lifts and stair lifts repairs and maintenance company, Deltron Group; its successful exit and reinvestment in leading professional pensions trusteeship and governance services provider Independent Governance Group (IGG), and its exit of Hertfordshire-based secure card payment technology manufacturer Cardel. In addition, the team supported Deltron Group in making six acquisitions to extend its UK-wide reach, and supported Bramble Foods, a manufacturer and distributor of fine foods, with its acquisitions of The Bay Tree Food Co and Whitaker’s Chocolates.
Alongside its investment activity, the team continued to support local charities including the Kids Village Charity and Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, and the Birmingham Children’s & Women’s Hospital Charity.
LDC also partnered with The King’s Trust to extend its new ‘Enterprise Advance’ programme, launching it in the Midlands, before expanding to other regions of the UK.
LDC extends its congratulations to all companies and individuals who won or were shortlisted at the West Midlands Rainmaker Awards 2025. You can view the full list of winners here.
