LDC crowned Funder of the Year at Midlands Dealmakers Awards

LDC took home two awards at Insider’s Midlands Dealmakers Awards 2023, landing Funder of the Year and Mid-Market Deal of the Year for its investment in specialist production agency Star Live.

The awards, which celebrate the achievements and contributions of the Midlands’ dealmaking community, were held at The Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham. The judging panel praised LDC for its continued commitment to growing its presence in the region and supporting the region’s local businesses, despite a global market slowdown.

LDC completed deals with a total enterprise value of more than £850m during the judging period, which included investments in specialist production agency Star Live and sustainability specialist Stonbury, as well as its exit from Nottingham-headquartered Littlefish following a successful three year partnership. The judges described the period as “a mighty achievement” for LDC.

The firm was also commended for growing its presence across the East and West Midlands with the appointments of Investment Directors Simon Peacock and Richard Godwin, and Investment Managers Mikayil Salahov, Nicole Wong, Ayesha Ali and Demetri Theofanou.

LDC’s investment in specialist production agency Star Live also took home Mid-Market Deal of the Year. Star Live delivers live events and specialist build solutions for events such as the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and stadium tours by acts such as Adele, and it was described by the judges as a “deal born and run in the Midlands.”
