Gareth Marshall named Dealmaker of the Year at North East Dealmakers 2022

Gareth Marshall, LDC Partner and Head of the North East and Scotland, picked up the prestigious Dealmaker of the Year Award at last night’s Insider North East Dealmakers Awards 2022, with the team also taking home Private Equity Deal of the Year for its investment in Aspire Technology Solutions.

Gareth was recognised for leading some of the North East’s most significant transactions this year. This included LDC’s investments in Gateshead-headquartered Aspire Technology Solutions and Stockton-on-Tees-based Cleveland Containers, as well as LDC’s partial exit from and reinvestment in Newcastle-based Mandata.

The judges also commended Gareth for his commitment to increase LDC’s support for mid-market businesses across the North East, something they believe made him the stand out as this year’s Dealmaker of the Year.

Building on LDC’s long history of supporting businesses in the region, Gareth led the opening of LDC’s Newcastle office in 2020 and has subsequently grown the team.

LDC was also awarded Private Equity Deal of the Year for its investment in Aspire Technology Solutions. The judges praised the transaction for recognising the North East as a key hub for tech businesses and creating more than 150 new jobs in the region.

LDC invested in the business – which is one fastest growing IT managed service and cyber security providers in the UK – in March, to support the management team to pursue further organic growth and acquisition opportunities.
