Companies across our portfolio are continuing to make progress in embedding the principles of environmental, social and governance (ESG) into their strategies and we’re there every step of the way to provide support and advice. Here is a snapshot of progress in December.
MSQ/Sustain: Recognised for environmental excellence
London-based creative agency MSQ Partners’ MSQ/Sustain was shortlisted for ‘Marketing/Customer Engagement Campaign of the Year’ in the Edie Awards 2024 for its Discover the Circular Advantage of Mail campaign. The research-backed campaign, created in partnership with marketing agency Marketreach, offered an in-depth look at the environmental impact and carbon emissions for each stage in the life of mail – from the forest source to end-of-life, through the processing, design, production, delivery and recycling stages.
By highlighting the environmental impact of mail, the campaign revealed how, if the right decisions are made at the right time, mail can be transformed into a more sustainable communication channel. Read more about the campaign here.
UniHomes: Dedicated to its people and workplace culture
Sheffield-based student accommodation advertising portal UniHomes has been officially certified as a Great Place to Work (GPTW). The accolade reaffirms UniHomes’ commitment to creating a workplace and culture that is inclusive, vibrant and supports the needs of its team. GPTW is the global authority on workplace culture and its certification is only awarded if employee feedback from its survey is at least 65% positive. UniHomes scored well above this threshold with a score of 82%.
UniHomes remains committed to supporting its people, giving everyone the ability to grow and develop, while offering regular incentives, seasonal celebrations and charitable initiatives throughout the year.
Headland Consultancy: Unveiling Science Based Targets
London-based corporate communications specialist Headland Consultancy this month announced its first ever Science Based Targets in an important milestone in its sustainability journey. Headland will use these targets to measure, manage and reduce its carbon impact. The business plans to reduce its Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030, with a goal of two-thirds of its suppliers having science-based targets or high-quality net zero targets by the end of 2028.
Beyond the portfolio
Alongside our support of ESG initiatives across our portfolio, we’ve continued to support charitable causes this month.
Our Birmingham team volunteered at Birmingham Women and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust Christmas Grotto, which is open to inpatients from all wards, outpatients, and siblings.
Having raised a total of £185,000 at our 16th annual Charity Quiz across eight LDC offices, our Yorkshire team donated more than £20k for Children’s cancer charity Candlelighters Trust. This donation supported the charity during the festive period and helped to fund their Christmas grants, which offer families small financial relief to allow them to enjoy the holidays with their loved ones.
