LDC’s David Bains wins Dealmaker of the Year at Insider’s East Midlands Dealmakers 2022

David Bains, LDC Partner and Head of East Midlands and East of England, picked up the prestigious Dealmaker of the Year award at the Insider East Midlands Dealmakers Awards 2022 last night.
He was recognised for his six years at LDC in which he has worked on investments in IT provider Littlefish and leading cloud tech business ENSEK, and supported premier marina operator Aquavista’s significant acquisition of Castle Marinas. Insider also acknowledged that LDC has been the region’s most consistent provider of equity in the East Midlands over the last two decades.
David has close to 20 years’ experience, and since joining LDC he has been integral to our success across the East Midlands. Over the last 12 months we have completed transactions in the region with a total enterprise value of £240m. David is also heavily involved in LDC’s partnership with the Prince’s Trust and runs training sessions for young people aged between 18-30 to help equip them with the skills to succeed in the workplace. In recognition of David’s impact at LDC, he was promoted to LDC’s Head of East Midlands and East of England in January 2022.
In the past year, David has led several significant transactions for LDC in the East Midlands. This included leading LDC’s minority investment in premium milkshake brand Shaken Udder. LDC backed the management team, led by co-founders Jodie and Andrew Howie, to further expand the company’s customer base and continue to develop new products.
David also supported Long Eaton-based Aquavista, the UK’s premier residential and leisure mooring provider, on its strategic acquisition of Castle Marinas. The transaction expanded Aquavista’s portfolio of 18 marinas nationwide with an additional footprint of 11 high quality marinas at new locations. The acquisition was funded by LDC and enables Aquavista to invest significantly across its whole estate.
LDC is committed to investing in at least 100 medium-sized businesses nationally over the next five years, and David is playing a significant role in ensuring LDC increases its support of businesses across the East Midlands and East of England.
