Dan Smith named Dealmaker of the Year at Yorkshire Dealmakers Awards 2023

Dan Smith, LDC Partner and Head of Yorkshire, picked up the prestigious Dealmaker of the Year Award at last night’s Insider Yorkshire Dealmakers Awards 2023, with the team also taking home Deal of the Year (£25m+) for its investment in Boston Energy.

Dan was praised by the judges for leading two of the region’s most significant transactions this year. This included LDC’s investment in Beverley-based technical wind energy services provider Boston Energy and its investment in Sheffield-based student accommodation advertising platform UniHomes.

He was also commended for his continued commitment to seeking investment opportunities and establishing strong relationships with management teams and the advisory community in Yorkshire.

LDC was also awarded Deal of the Year (£25m+) for its investment in Boston Energy, a technical services provider to the wind energy industry. Boston Energy employs and trains technicians to support the development of on- and offshore wind farms worldwide and the judges and praised LDC for investing in an “important industry sector” and supporting the transition to a cleaner energy economy. They also commended the involvement of the local advisory community.

The team recently reiterated its commitment to the region’s medium-sized businesses by completing five transactions over a three-month period in 2023, with a combined enterprise value of more than £100 million.
