David Bains, LDC Partner and Head of East Midlands and East of England, picked up the prestigious Rainmaker of the Year Award at the East Midlands Rainmakers Awards 2024, with the team also taking home Private Equity Team of the Year and Medium Deal of the Year for its investment in Integrated Doorset Solutions Ltd (IDSL).
The awards, organised by TheBusinessDesk.com and held at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Nottingham, celebrate the achievements of the East Midland’s dealmaking community, and were decided by the corporate finance community on a ‘one firm, one vote’ basis.
David has led LDC’s East Midlands and East of England team to make several significant transactions since joining the firm in 2016, including its investments in water and environmental consultancy Stonbury and specialist performance doorset manufacturer IDSL. He has also played a key role in some of LDC’s most successful exits, including its exit from Forest Holidays and, more recently, its exit from leading cloud technology businesses Ensek.
LDC was crowned Private Equity Team of the Year. During the qualifying period, LDC’s East Midlands and East of England team completed five transactions, including its investment in IDSL, and exits from Ensek, and supply teachers provider The Edwin Group. The team also helped its portfolio to make a series of strategic acquisitions, including Littlefish’s acquisition of technology consultancy Storm Technology, and Stonbury’s acquisition of advanced inspection and cleaning specialist Panton McLeod.
LDC’s investment in IDSL won Medium Deal of the Year. IDSL is a prominent member of the region’s business community, operating two manufacturing facilities and employing more than 280 people. LDC backed IDSL’s management team, led by Founder and Managing Director Ash Malhan, and is helping the business to target further organic growth and complementary acquisitions.
LDC’s investment in specialist database, cloud and applications managed service provider DSP was also awarded the Private Equity Exit of the Year.
The award wins follow a busy period for LDC’s team in the East Midland and East of England, who recently welcomed Kevin O’Loughlin as a new Investment Director.
The team has also continued to give back to the local community, volunteering at various foodbanks across the region as well as raising money for When You Wish Upon A Star, an organisation fulfilling the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses, at the firm’s annual Charity Quiz.
LDC extends its congratulations to all the companies and individuals that won awards or were shortlisted at TheBusinessDesk’s East Midlands Rainmakers Awards 2024.
